Why are franchise names so male-centric?

Men in Black, X-Men, League of Extraordinary GentleMEN! What about X-Women? Or Women in Black?! Why are they named after men?! Women are on those teams too, ya know! Why is society so sexist?!

you mean, why is HOLLYWOOD so sexist? Maybe Weinstein's incarceration will change things. There aren't many women in powerful positions in Hollywood. Hopefully more will be given a chance.

Mainly because of the source material having those names, as another user pointed out. But also because they know which demographic will return to the theater to see a movie multiple times, as well as line up opening weekend for the sequels. Those are the only customers the studios need to cater to.

Although, now that millions of people are watching new release movies on pay per view, all of that could shift, and the demographics of whose taste drives movie production might shift with it. We'll see what happens.

These are all adaptations of comic books that are 30+ years old. Whats the point of complaining that comics 30 years ago had phallocentric names?

One superheros are mostly men, though their is Wonder Woman and Batgirl and a couple other, and two most people in power in hollywood are male and they think that the public wants that.

all of those franchises also objectify their female 'protagonists', making them just as sexist as other films
