1. Talk to someone else about it
Your WTF moment might be pretty common or part of a “life initiation” or transition from one phase to another. For example a middle aged person having to change their elderly parents diapers.
2. Explore your options
It is natural to assume that just because YOU would handle a situation a particular way your initial choice must be the best way.
3. There is no such thing as common sense
(This one is self explanatory.)
4. It’s okay to freak out.......momentarily.
Don’t beat yourself up because you got caught off guard, freaked out, or generally didn’t handle the immediate situation as maturely as you normally do. You aren’t a robot. You can’t turn your emotions off. Finding the best (healthy) solution involves considering your feelings as well as others.
