Why do some meat department retail stores require this?

How come some of them require you to be good at cleaning the meat machines and the floor in order to be moved up to being a meat cutter or meat supervisor or assistant manager?

    Because cleaning and sanitizing procedures are important when dealing with any sort of food product. Are you not aware we are in a global pandemic at the moment?

    If you do not know how to keep where you work  clean and the equipment that you work with clean - which you will need to be able to do to be a meat cutter, why shout-out be moved up?
