What is difference between Navy and Marine Corps?

News Flash: The Marines are actually a PART of the Navy!

I assume you're from the USA.
The Navy fight at sea. They operate all the various kinds of battleships, submarines and aircraft carriers, as well as naval aviation.
The Marine Corps exists in principle for amphibious and expeditionary warfare via the sea using combined arms/manoeuvre warfare.
They're more identical to the Army really because they fight on land. Like the Army, they have infantry, artillery, armour, and helicopters. Unlike the Army they have their own fixed-wing aircraft like F-35Bs for close air support. They used to operate the Harrier.

The US Navy's mission is to control sea lanes and project power. Controlling sea lanes means protecting shipping on the high seas and being ready to confront an enemy naval force as necessary. Projecting power means using the seas to deliver military power anywhere around the world. The best example is aircraft carriers. The combat aircraft capability aboard a single carrier is massive. Another component of the power projection is the US Marine Corps. The Marine Corps is an expeditionary force, a force in-readiness, ready to deploy anywhere on the planet that it is needed. The Marine Corps is a direct-combat unit with a highly coordinated air-ground team; meaning that Marine infantry is supported by Marine aircraft. The US Marine Corps has a well-documented history of success in combat across the planet.

You need at least a 50 on the ASVAB for the Navy.
Marines will take at little as 32.

They have different missions. Marine Corps missions include amphibious assault, overseas embassy guards, close air support. The Navy conducts littoral operations, provides protection for sea lanes, they also provide medical personnel for the Marine Corps, and provide for construction missions with the Seabees. They both have other missions that weren't mentioned.

Navy operates primarily at sea while marines operate on both land and sea.

The Marines are the land fighting branch of the Navy. It's been that way for centuries.

The Navy is mainly about ships and fights at sea. The Marines mainly fight on land but come from the sea to do it. Since they are closely related, the Marine Corp comes under the civilian Secretary of the Department of the Navy but they are separate branches of service.
