Politics: How about this idea for Universal Healthcare?

We pass the Medicare for All, if you don’t want government run health care you simply sign a waiver stating that you understand that you want to pay premiums, co-pays, deductibles and out of pocket expenses. You also agree that you want  to take full financial responsibility for anything not covered under your insurance plan. The upside, you don’t pay into Medicare or Medicaid from your check.

Here's the fatal flaw: C0ns will NEVER grow out of their utter disregard for humanity in general and for the idea of healthier communities/citizens.

Sorry but it doesn't work that way. The Medicare for all that they are proposing in a single payer system. That means there are no private insurance companies. The government runs the entire system and all of the providers work for the government. And you pay for it whether you use it or not.

It has nothing to do with what you want. Its about a viable Market. Without more healthy people than sick people an Insurance Company will fail. Same argument as Charter Schools. When Schools get graded on performance and the Charter School takes the brightest and the Public Schools can't turn down any Student's it leaves the Public School showing poor performance. Until Profit stops being the #1 reason for health care nothing will change.

    Almost clever.

You say I won't pay in if I opt-out, but that's not true is it?  You know Medicare is a financial black hole and is going to need trillions in tax money from outside the payroll tax even without the expansion you're envisioning.  So the idea that I would be able to opt-out of paying for it is almost certainly a lie.

But it also defeats the purpose.  The entire purpose of Medicare for All is for lazy GenZers to get OTHER PEOPLE to pay for their lives.  Your plan, if it honestly were to do what it says, would mean GenZ has to pay for GenZ.  And that's not why they want Bernie!

But I like that you're trying to think of a way to give both sides a CHOICE.  That puts you ahead of LITERALLY every Democrat.

Sounds good. People keep thinking this is either/or when it’s not. We have the government run socialist USPS (as mandated by the constitution), and we have privately owned options like Fedex and UPS operating successfully right alongside it. It can work, if we’re willing to take up the challenge.

Some people have been paying into Medicare for decades with nothing to show for it yet. You did not say anything about returning their money.

That's essentially what most of the Democratic candidates are proposing.
